# Control Chart (SPC)

Your radar for the new standard. The Control Chart shows at a glance whether the process is stable, and tells you exactly when to act, and when to leave it alone. Watch the short video, then work with the toolkit PDF: it explains the method, shows a worked example and gives you a blank template to fill in.

Tool video

The short tool video will appear here.

## Control Chart (SPC) in short

1. **Pick the metric.** A critical X or Y from your Control Plan, measured the same way every time.
2. **Choose the chart.** Individuals (I-MR) for single values, p-chart for proportions, X̄-R for subgroups.
3. **Calculate the limits.** From at least 20 points after the improvement: mean ± 3 standard deviations.
4. **Plot and post it.** At the Gemba, at the point of use, updated on a fixed rhythm.
5. **Apply the rules.** A point outside, or 7 in a row on one side or steadily rising: trigger the OCAP.

Key points

- Limits come from the data.
- Random inside: leave it alone.
- Outside or pattern: act.
- Post it where the work happens.
