# Pick Chart

Not every good idea deserves your time now. The Pick Chart shows in minutes which ideas to do, which to propose, and which to drop. Watch the short video, then work with the toolkit PDF: it explains the method, shows a worked example and gives you a blank template to fill in.

## Pick Chart in short

1. **Draw the grid.** Effort on the horizontal axis, impact on the root cause on the vertical axis.
2. **Rate each idea.** Impact and effort, low or high. Agree as a team.
3. **Place the ideas.** One sticky note per idea in its box.
4. **Decide per box.** Quick Wins now, Major Projects to the sponsor, Fill-ins later, Thankless Tasks out.
5. **Use a Pugh Matrix.** If several strong ideas compete, compare them objectively.

Key points

- Two axes: impact and effort.
- Four boxes, four decisions.
- Rate against the root cause.
