# Interrelationship Diagraph

Some causes drive others. The Interrelationship Diagraph maps the links and shows which cause pulls the most strings. Watch the short video, then work with the toolkit PDF: it explains the method, shows a worked example and gives you a blank template to fill in.

The short tool video will appear here.

## Interrelationship Diagraph in short

1. **Place the causes.** 5 to 10 causes from your Fishbone or Affinity Diagram, in a circle.
2. **Compare each pair.** For every pair ask: does one cause or influence the other?
3. **Draw the arrows.** From cause to effect. Only one direction per pair, the stronger one.
4. **Count in and out.** Write the number of outgoing and incoming arrows on each cause.
5. **Name the drivers.** Most outgoing arrows: driver causes. Most incoming: key outcomes.

Key points

- Arrows from cause to effect.
- One direction per pair.
- Most outgoing = driver cause.
- Drivers go to A4 for proof.
