## SMED (Quick Changeover) in short

1. **Record a changeover.** Film or time every step from last good part to first good part.
2. **Separate internal and external.** Internal: only possible when stopped. External: possible while running.
3. **Move steps outside.** Prepare tools, material and settings before the stop.
4. **Streamline the rest.** Quick-release clamps, presets, parallel work, no searching.
5. **Standardize.** Write the new changeover into an SOP and a checklist.
